Obituary for Daryl Longworth

Daryl Longworth, 68, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born July 25, 1949 in Middlesboro, KY. He was a 1968 graduate of Middlesboro High School and a 1988 graduate of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. He was also a licensed heavy equipment operator working for many years in mining and construction. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He loved gardening and John Deere tractors. But more importantly, he loved the Lord along with his family and friends. He was a long time member of Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by parents: Pauline (Sivils) and Leonard Duncan; grandparents, Ed and Clara Sivils, special uncle, Don Bennett; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Ethel Brock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Betty (Brock) Longworth; son, Edward of Powell, TN and daughter, Paula Ann of Middlesboro; special aunt Anna Mae Bennett, special cousin, Mike (Rita) Bennett; brothers and sisters-in-law: Kathy Frost, Tazewell, TN, Margie (David) Wyatt of Chattanooga, TN, Roy (Cathy) Brock of Middlesboro, KY, and Paul (Carol) Brock of Ewing, VA and his special furry friend – Miss Ellie Mae Buttons. He is also survived by special friends: Trey Jordan (Toodles) and the entire Mike family and a host of many family and friends including Amedisys Home Health and his Davita Dialysis family to mourn his passing.

Funeral service will be 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Greene and Bro. Ray Spicer officiating. Music will be provided by Paige Campbell and Dennis Howard. Pallbearers will be Scott Duncan, Tim Mike, John Anthony (Tony) Mike, Matthew Mike, Jacob Mike, Robert Marcum, Mike Marcum, and Charles Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Mike, Dr. C.A. Moore and Dr. Steven Reed, Paul and Roy Brock, Jay Eddie Tinnel and the Men’s Sunday School Class of Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Military Honors will be provided by Campbell County Honor Guard. Interment will be follow at Scotts Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.
